A Clarifier Tank is designed to treat turbid water by converting suspended solids into a uniform, settleable form. It is widely used for treating surface water sources such as rivers, canals, streams, ponds, reservoirs, lakes, wells, and even wastewater that cannot naturally settle, even after long retention times.
To achieve effective clarification, chemical coagulants such as Alum (Aluminum Sulfate) or Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) are added and mixed with the incoming water before it enters the clarifier tank. These chemicals help suspended particles bind together and form flocs. When the water flows through the clarifier tank with an appropriate detention time, the flocs settle to the bottom, producing clear water at the outlet.
After clarification, the clarified water is typically passed through a Sand Filter to remove any remaining fine suspended solids, ensuring higher water clarity and improved overall water quality before further use or treatment.
